About the Show

Written by Peter Duchan and the dynamic duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan Hansen, La La Land, The Greatest Showman, Edges, James and the Giant Peach, A Christmas Story), Dogfight: The Musical was praised by critics and nominated for numerous awards, winning the Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical.

  • Based on the 1991 Warner Brothers film, Dogfight takes audiences on a romantic but heartbreaking theatrical journey that stays with you long after the performance. It's November 21, 1963 – the day before the world changed forever with the assassination of John F. Kenndy. On the eve of their deployment to a small but growing conflict in Southeast Asia, three young Marines set out for one final boys' night of debauchery, partying and a desire to maybe make a little trouble. But, when Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress whom he enlists to win a viciously cruel bet with his fellow recruits, she steps into her own power and rewrites the rules of the game - teaching him the power of love and compassion.

“It’s a night where there are no winners, but in which morals, values, humility, and humanity are explored and dissected.” – KawarthaNOW.com

The beautiful score features a new generation of classic songs including Take Me Back, Some Kinda Time, Nothing Short of Wonderful, First Date/Last Night, Before It's Over and the heartbreaking Pretty Funny.

Dogfight deals frankly with serious and important subjects still frighteningly relevant in our fractious times of political instability, cyber bullying & intolerance of “others”. The Period-typical misogyny, racism, ableism, bullying, sexual assault, crude language, wartime violence and death in Dogfight force us to look at ourselves and wonder if we are moving forward or returning to times where a “dogfight” can still be possible.

Listen now to one of the iconic songs, “Pretty Funny”, from Dogfight: The Musical featuring Broadway’s Lindsay Mendez.
