The SMARTS Conference
Partnering with Winnipeg Jewish Theatre, Dry Cold Productions sponsored Apprentice Stage Manager Ridge Romanishen to attend the SMARTS Conference for emerging and established professional Stage Managers. Ridge was the Apprentice Stage Manager on our 2019 production of Kiss of the Spider Woman.
We follow up with Dry Cold Apprentice Ridge Romanishen
I’d like to thank you all at Dry Cold for sponsoring my SMARTS Conference Pass. I was able to attend 2 of the sessions and I found them invaluable. In short, it was a great way to dip my toes back in the theatre and stage management realm after quite some time away from the community. I was able to meet with many other Apprentice and Equity Stage Managers from around the country and create some connections that I am thrilled to have as we move back into normal life again. I was able to attend the How to be a good Apprentice and Line! Blocking and Rehearsal Management. I gained important insight into expectations Stage Managers have for their apprentices and some helpful hints for myself as I continue with my apprenticeships over the next year. It was like being back in the classroom again - surrounded by Stage Managers and apprentices of all levels as we collaborated and learned from each other. Overall I made some invaluable connections, refreshed my passed experiences, learned some new techniques, and approaches for moving my career moving forward. Most importantly I was reinvigorated to get back into live theatre (hopefully) this fall! Again, thank you so much for this opportunity and I hope you and Dry Cold all the best this coming season.
Best, Ridge Romanishen
