Introducing HAL, A New Musical

We are so excited to share with you the DRY COLD Musical Development Programme Hal!

dcp-hal-musical-tile-meettheteam.jpg
Hal is a modern musical adaptation of Shakespeare’s Henry IV. The classic underdog tale of Henry IV’s son Hal is explored through the lens of hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and other contemporary styles. With a mandate of casting primarily IBPOC artists, Hal reimagines Shakespeare’s original historical play in a post-apocalyptic world. A world marred by rebellion and class struggle. After the rise of nationalism and a capitalist culture which led to a global catastrophe, groups of survivors established colonies and new systems of government in hopes of rebuilding their lives. In a time of civil unrest, it becomes incumbent upon the titular Prince Hal to lead the colony he is to inherit into a new, more equitable future.”
