Happy Holidays from Dry Cold!
See below for the excerpt from the Winnipeg Free Press article Reflecting on a Decade of Manitoba Theatre

Rochelle Kives and Reid McTavish, Kiss of the Spider Woman (2019)

Reid McTavish in Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Musical theatre isn’t typically one of my favourite things, so I had absolutely no idea what I was walking into with Dry Cold Production’s 2019 offering of Kiss of the Spider Woman, directed by Christopher Brauer.  As it turns out, I was walking into a startlingly contemporary and thoroughly riveting musical written by none other than the classic pairing of John Kander and Fred Ebb, who brought us both Chicago and Cabaret, two musicals I actually love.  And thanks to the irresistible and spellbinding performances by Reid McTavish as Molina and Rochelle Kives as Aurora, by the end of this show, I had abandoned my anti-musical theatre stance entirely.

With your support, the Manitoba talent that you see making magic on our stage and behind the scenes can bring you the premieres of powerful productions like our May 2018 co-production with Winnipeg Jewish Theatre of the Tony Award-winning Falsettos by William Finn. Your donations allow us to develop Bruce McManus’ Governor General-nominated play into our own made-in-Manitoba piece - Selkirk Avenue: A Musical.

Help us build the Dry Cold Snowbank! Your gifts mean that we can continue to develop and present to our audiences the clever and contemporary musical theatre that is our passion. Your gifts also allow us to pass this passion on to emerging artists through Dry Cold’s Apprenticeship Program - a program that provides real and important professional learning opportunities to the next generation of Manitoba’s actors and stage professionals.
